We were first drafted in to work with Phelan on their marketing campaigns. They already had an internal marketing team. However, they wanted to raise their profile locally and throughout the industry with strategic events and work. However, it quickly became apparent that our work here would evolve into so much more.

The Brand

Having been in operation for 30 years, the business already had an established brand. However, it was being used with little precision or understanding throughout the business and various versions of the dated logo were floating around. Various team members were creating documents in silo and there was a lack of cohesion and centrality to this.

We underwent a complete rebrand with Phelan, starting with refining the logo and then working our way through all touchpoints of the business, starting as a priority with the sales documents such as capability documents, presentations, tender documents and brochures.

The Campaigns

The Website

The old Phelan website was not fit for purpose for many reasons – largely, that when you landed on the home page, it was just a carousel of images and not entirely clear what they did. Some clients actually thought they sold furniture from the fact so many of these pictures featured chairs! Not only was it visually unclear, but the fact it lacked text meant the site also wasn’t performing on an SEO level and it lacked clear sales messages. We worked to redesign and develop a much slicker, more effective site that conveyed the breadth and quality of their work, as well as the myriad of additional initiatives we’d developed. The goal was to use the site as a method of strengthening their sales messaging.

The Awards

Phelan regularly won many industry awards and we worked closely in the submission of these entries, providing them with collateral and campaigns that would help to create a strong case for becoming winners. On one occasion we attended the awards judging day and pitched their case to the panel, championing our many campaigns and their successes.

The Tenders

As time progressed, we worked increasingly closely with the in-house sales and marketing teams to develop market-leading tender documents. We examined the design of these, reviewing the visual communication of CVs, organograms, methodology diagrams and site plans. We explored cutting-edge technology to provide Phelan with the opportunity to position themselves in line with Tier One contractors in their tender documents.

We also reviewed what was being said, aligning this against the tender specifications and refining each answer with expert precision to ensure we were meeting the criteria for ‘excellent’ scores. On many occasions, thanks to how closely we aligned the sales and marketing strategies and ongoing work, we managed to achieve full marks in our answers.

The Events

We worked closely with Phelan on multiple events, providing them with support in event management and logistics planning, graphic design and marketing collateral, copywriting, photography and videography, social media updates, and attending the events on behalf of Phelan as representatives of the business to speak with key clients and passing traffic. On all occasions we were praised for how hard-working and committed we were, often staying much later than the client expected in order to help with clearing down and tidying up.

The Press

Thanks to the many campaigns and events we developed and ran for Phelan, we were able to achieve a wide amount of press coverage in local and industry publications for the business. The business hadn’t often been featured in the press, so this PR work was a new direction for the company. We used all of our work and campaigns to identify new opportunities and strategically develop press releases to achieve maximum effect.

The In-House Service

Although we operate as an external marketing agency, we are also able to fit in seamlessly with an existing team to provide the feel of having an in-house team of graphic designers, copywriters, marketing strategists and business development experts but without the added overheads, HR and training requirements. This is exactly how we supported Phelan, working very closely with their in-house teams and often operating from their office during particularly busy periods so we could be on-hand to offer immediate support as required.


It gave me immense pleasure and pride to see the quality of work that has gone into producing this tender. A phenomenal effort.
