entrepreneurship
This year, we’re all about entrepreneurship—but not just any kind.
We’re zeroing in on empowering young girls and women to step up, start up, and stay the course in building their own businesses. Why? Because we believe women can play a large part in the future of entrepreneurship, but they need change to happen. It’s time to tear down the barriers that have kept too many bright minds on the sidelines.
Why Entrepreneurship Matters
(Especially for Women)
Let’s face it — entrepreneurship is the ultimate power move. It’s about taking control, turning ideas into reality, and creating something from nothing. But here’s the thing: women, especially young girls, often face more roadblocks than open doors when it comes to starting and sustaining their own businesses. From outdated stereotypes to lack of funding, the challenges around motherhood to parenting and expensive childcare, the hurdles are real, and they’re high. But we’re here to change that.
How We’re Making a Difference:
We’re not just cheering from the sidelines; we’re rolling up our sleeves and getting involved. Here’s how we’re helping to empower the next generation of female entrepreneurs:
Removing the Roadblocks:
Starting a business is tough enough without extra barriers in the way. We’re working to dismantle those obstacles by advocating for better access to guidance, funding, resources, and support networks specifically for women. Whether it’s creating an investment space for women with an investor who gets it, or providing the tools they need to scale, we’re all about levelling the playing field.
Keeping Women in the Game:
Too many women start strong only to be pushed out by the pressures of balancing business with everything else life throws their way. We’re dedicated to creating initiatives that help women not just start, but stay in business—whether it’s through flexible work environments, leadership training, changing the law for female business owners, or simply building communities where women can support and lift each other up.
Inspiring the Next Generation:
We’re on a mission to show young girls that entrepreneurship isn’t just an option—it’s an exciting, viable path. Through educational initiatives, workshops, mentorship programs, and partnerships with organisations that support women in business, we’re helping to ignite that entrepreneurial spark early on.
Why It’s Important to Us:
We’re not just raising awareness; we’re actively weaving mental health into the fabric of our work. Here’s how:
We believe that when women succeed, everyone benefits. Female entrepreneurs bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a whole lot of grit to the table — and the world needs more of that.
Entrepreneurship isn’t just about building businesses; it’s about building a future where everyone has a fair shot at success, flexibility, and financial freedom. And we’re here to make sure that young girls and women have the support they need to not only dream big but to make those dreams a reality.
So, if you’re as passionate about empowering women in entrepreneurship as we are — or if you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and help us knock down those barriers — let’s talk. Together, we can create a world where more women are at the helm of their own businesses, driving change and making their mark. It’s time to turn those big ideas into bold realities.
Campaign work
business & babies
Our Business and Babies campaign was born out of the direct experiences of our founder, and a critical need to address the glaring gap in support for female entrepreneurs who are balancing the demanding roles of business owner and mother.
We recognised that while entrepreneurship is challenging on its own, adding the complexities of motherhood into the mix presents a unique set of hurdles that often go unaddressed.
Our mission was to create a campaign that not only highlighted these challenges but also offered tangible solutions, resources, and a community of support for women navigating this dual journey.
ALONgSIDE entrepreneurship WE ALSO FOCUS ON:
-
At Aphra, mental health is a top priority. It should be for everyone—it's the health of our brain, for goodness sake - the essential cog within our body that keeps things working. Yet, for some reason, there's still a stigma around discussing and caring for it. Break a leg, and everyone understands, but mental health often gets overlooked. We’re committed to changing that. Whether your goal is personal growth or building stronger communities, we want to work with you to promote healthier, more resilient, and empathetic lives globally.
-
It’s not rocket science - although maybe if it was, more wealthy men would’ve invested their money in it (!) —but we believe everyone deserves equal treatment. That means equal pay, healthcare, rights, and opportunities for all, regardless of gender or identity. It’s something that shouldn’t require campaigning, especially in this century.
Yet here we are. Committed to building a just society, we recognise that systemic inequalities persist, disproportionately affecting marginalised communities. By focusing on social equity, we aim to amplify underrepresented voices, advocate for policy changes, and bridge gaps in opportunity and resources.
